These colourful resources link with the The Gingerbread Man
story and activities.
Ideally these will be laminated and have multiple uses. Print
from the CD as many times as needed.
Character Sheets:
Print off the individual characters. These can be used individually
to get children using schedules or hanging their coats on pegs.
Or use them to create bingo games or TEACCH tasks.
Letter sheets:
Print off and create letter matching, word matching and name
matching spelling activities. They may also be used for the
titles of class displays.
Character matching: Create matching
activities or print off and stick to BIG Macs and switches for
non verbal children.
Character symbols: Useful for seeing
if a child can match pictures to symbols or symbols to symbols.
Prepositions: in, out, on, under
and around (These are a great visual prompt and allow to differentiate
questioning. Non verbal children may answer ‘Where is
the gingerbread man’ using a sentence strip. They may
match a picture of the gingerbread man in the oven or make a
sentence using words with symbols depending on ability.
Pronouns: he, she, they it. Children
use these to create sentence strips for example he swam when
shown a picture of the fox swimming.
Sequencing: Can a child recall
and sequence events of the story. Test different abilities using
these. First and next words with symbols may also be useful
for creating transition boards.
Comprehension: Answering ‘Who’
questions. Children can create a sentence strip saying ‘The
fox ate the gingerbread man.’ Less able children can answer
using the pictures.
